Cape May offers a variety of tours during the holiday season, giving visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the town’s festive charm.

WALKING & HOUSE TOURS

Christmas Candlelight House Tours
These self-guided walking tours are the highlight of Cape May’s Christmas season. Held on December 7, 14, and 21, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, they take you through beautifully decorated homes, inns, and churches in the Historic District. Tickets are $45 for adults and $30 for children aged 3-12. Advance purchase is highly recommended.

Lamplighter Christmas Walking Tour
This tour showcases Cape May’s B&Bs and private homes festively decorated for the holidays and includes a visit to the “Old-fashioned Christmas” exhibit at the Carroll Gallery. Tickets are $35 for adults and $25 for children (3-12), and the tour runs Friday evenings in December​, as well as Saturday, December 26.  NEW THIS YEAR: Dinner package includes 3 course-dinner at the Washington Inn prior to the tour: $95.

Evening Yuletide House Tour
This is a first-person living history holiday tour of first-floor rooms of the magnificent 1879 Physick Estate, Cape May’s only Victorian house museum, decorated in authentic Victorian style for Christmas. The tour guide portrays a member of the Physick family in the early 1900s and shares stories and traditions. The tour also includes a visit to the Carroll Gallery to see “An Old-fashioned Christmas.”This intimate tour is available on select evenings in November & December, with tickets priced at $20 for adults​ and $15 for children 3 – 12.

Holiday Inns Tour
This self-guided daytime tour takes you inside a select group of festively decorated Cape May landmark properties. A free trolley shuttle will make continuous loops during this self-guided afternoon tour. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children 3 – 12. NEW THIS YEAR: Dinner package includes 3 course-dinner at the Washington Inn after the tour: $85.

Caroling in Victorian Cape May Walking Tour – NEW IN 2025!
Step into the heart of the holidays with a joyful stroll through the Cape May’s twinkling, Victorian streets. Tourgoers join together in singing classic Christmas carols — from Jingle Bells to Silent Night — while learning the fascinating stories behind the songs that have filled generations with cheer. Along the way, the glow of gas lamps, wreath-covered porches, and beautifully decorated homes set the perfect backdrop for this magical experience.

Whether you’re a visitor or a local, this tour truly captures the warmth and wonder of Christmas in one of America’s most picturesque seaside towns. Adults: $15 and $5 for children 3 – 12.

TROLLEY TOURS

Holiday Lights Trolley Rides
Experience the magic of Cape May’s Victorian homes illuminated with holiday lights. These narrated trolley rides, running throughout December, offer a cozy and cheerful way to see the town’s historic streets while learning about its holiday traditions. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children​ 3-12.

Spirited Cape May Christmas Trolley Ride 
This evening trolley ride is perfect for those interested in the more mysterious side of Christmas in Cape May. It includes tales of holiday ghost stories and Victorian Christmas traditions. Tickets for this haunted holiday experience are $20 for adults and $15 for children​ 3-12.

Santa’s Trolley Ride
A family favorite, this jolly trolley ride features Mrs. Claus leading sing-alongs and storytelling. The ride ends with a visit from Santa himself at the Emlen Physick Estate. This tour runs during the day throughout December. Tickets are priced at $20 for adults and $15 for children​ 3-12.
